Turquoise colour waters, a blend of white sand and smooth pebbles and a great swimming experience and stunning views are what you can expect when you come to this fantastic beach. This mountain backdrop beach is about 14km north of Pigadia, the capital of Karpathos island.
This magnificent sandy beach is located in a small cove between the mountains. You can reach Kyra Panagia beach by road and you can count on finding it has beach bars and taverns serving traditional Greek food. Parasols, sunbed rental, showers, changing rooms and a mini market are also what you can expect when you visit this beach.
Apella Beach – Karpathos Island
Located on the island of Karpathos, the sandy Apella beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. Make sure to come prepared with a spare battery for your phone of digital camera – you’ll be taking loads of photos here for sure. The amount of photos you can take on this beach to capture the memory are endless. Apella beach is around 18km north of the island’s capital “Pigadia”.
You can reach Apella beach by road but it’s much easier by boat. The picturesque setting of this beach are perfect for enjoying and relaxation while you are visiting Karpathos island.
Red Beach – Santorini Island
The scenic Red beach is one of the great attractions on Santorini island. This beautiful beach is located in Akrotiri village which is 12km south west of the island’s capital Fira. Without a doubt, Red beach is a must-see attraction when you are in Santorini.
Surrounded by steep hills and red sand, the dark blue colour of the water, the setting is just amazing. Red beach is arguably one of Santorini’s famous beaches and it’s not far from the ancient site of Akrotiri. Red beach can get quite crowded in season so do make sure to get their as early in the morning as you can. That being said, the beach is most definitely well worth seeing if you’re visiting the island of Santorini.
Porto Katsiki Beach – Lefkada Island
Porto Katsiki beach is one of many beaches on the beautiful Ionian Greek islands Lefkada. This beach is among the top 10 Greece beaches and the Mediterranean. Located 40km southwest of Lefkada Town, this beach is a must-see when you visit Lefkada. Stunning views blue waters, surrounding white cliffs and the lush vegetation behind are part of what makes Porto Katsiki one of Lefkada’s most beautiful beaches.
This amazingly beautiful beach has parasol and sunbed rentals and you can reach it by road or sea. It might be best to reach Porto Katsiki by boat. The road leading up to it is quite narrow. There are plenty of stairs to climb down to the beach too. If you are going by car and you use the parking above the beach, don’t forget to take everything from your car. This is so you don’t need to deal with those stairs more times than you have to.
Balos Beach – Crete Island
The gorgeous Balos beach is definitely worth a visit if you are visiting Crete island. This is probably one of the most photographed beaches in Crete for its natural beauty. The famous Balos lagoon is around 56km northwest of Chania, Crete and about 17km northwest of Kissamos or Kasteli. This Strikingly beautiful beach is located between Cape Gramvousa and Cape Tigani.
You can get to exotic and picturesque Balos beach by road or by sea. If you’re arriving by road, you will catch amazing views from the top before you go down to the beach. The walk down is quite a long one. Reaching Balos beach by boat is a good idea if you don’t fancy the walk. Once you arrive, you can enjoy a beautiful day on the beach which boasts crystal clear waters plus white and pink sand.
Kolymbithres Beach – Paros Island
Kolimbithres beach on the Cycladic island of Paros is one of the island’s most famous beaches. Nicely tucked in Naoussa (Plastira) bay, this beach has large granite rocks, carved into those beautiful shapes by the wind and sea over centuries. Kolimbithres means “small pools” in Greek and it’s how the beach gets its name. Small sandy coves (if you’re lucky to get one), can be your own little private bay pool.
You can enjoy a fun and relaxing day at the beach with parasol and sunbed rentals, beach bars and some water sports. You can reach this beach by your own car, local bus or by small fishing boats which leave from Naoussa port. The magnificent view of the Bay of Naoussa and the clear blue waters are just some of the natural beauty you can expect from the beautiful Kolimbithres beach.
Elafonissi Beach – Crete Island

Valtos Beach – Parga
Valtos beach is one of beautiful beaches you can visit when you are in Parga. This crescent-shaped beach is about 1km long and it’s quite a wide beach. The beach has facilities to rent parasol and sunbeds with many tavern and cafes just behind the beach. Don’t count on Wi-Fi on Valtos beach, a few places that rent parasols I have asked didn’t offer connection. It’s not a big deal as the beach is really worth a visit. You can get there either by walking or taking a taxi boat. Walking to the beach is a climb up the stairs to the the fortress or to the monastery. You can make this a fun walk if you take it slowly and take a look at some of the shops that are on the way up.
Walking to Valtos beach is a good idea if you plan on taking pictures. The view of Valtos beach from the top of Parga is amazing. The path which leads down to the beach has great vantage points of the beach. You can easily take at least 20 stunning and unique photos on your way down to the beach. You can also get there by car but finding a space in the car park can be a challenge in high season. Walking to the beach or catching the taxi boat there is a good idea. Taking a taxi boat from the centre of Parga is very cheap and you can buy a return ticket too.
Portokali (Orange) Beach – Sithonia (Halkidiki)
The amazing Portokali beach (Kavourotripes) is also known by its more popular name as Orange beach. The perfect place to enjoy crystal clear waters and an amazing fun day at the beach.
Golden Beach – Thassos Island
Golden beach (Chrissi Ammoudia) – Greek for “Golden Sand” is definitely one of the many beautiful beaches on Thassos island. The 3km long stretch of golden sand beach is well worth a visit when you visit this beautiful Greek island. This amazing beach is about 12km southwest of the capital of Thassos island ”Limenas” which means ‘The Port’ in Greek.
Golden beach is located between Skala Panagias and Skala Potamias resorts. You are assured of a beautiful day on the beach on this scenic and very popular beach in Thassos.
